Al Samaha Village in Egypt was created for women society had left behind. Ironically, the village was left behind too.
Poor roads made it almost impossible to travel in or out, leaving women dependent on passing trucks to reach the nearest town. Without reliable transport, education, healthcare and economic opportunity remained just out of reach.
Bridgestone has always believed mobility can change lives. If they could engineer tyres for the world's toughest roads, they could help the women of Al Samaha navigate theirs.

Bridgestone introduced a modified all-terrain bus designed for the roads around Al Samaha, giving women reliable access to schools, healthcare and nearby markets.

The Karkadih Academy
The project didn't stop with the bus.
Through the Karkadih Academy, women were trained to drive the buses and other vehicles themselves, giving them the skills and independence to move their communities without relying on anyone else.
